Kent's pubs are spread across the county rather than concentrated in one city. The Medway towns of Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham hold several between them, Canterbury has more than one, and the coastal towns of Deal, Dover, Folkestone, Margate and Ramsgate carry their own. Maidstone and Ashford serve the middle of the county.
Several of the names draw on genuinely local figures and landmarks, Canterbury's medieval West Gate among them. With 3 pubs running rooms upstairs, Kent is also a practical county for an overnight stop, particularly around the ports and the Channel Tunnel terminal.
The menu is the same in every Kent pub. The small breakfast is £3.19, chicken tikka masala is £10.54, and an 11 inch BBQ chicken pizza is £10.54. Prices are set per pub, so the coastal and Canterbury sites can differ from the Medway towns. The full menu is here.
Hours vary across the county, with the port and coastal towns generally trading longer in summer. Breakfast runs from opening to a fixed morning cut off in every pub.
